Is My Plan Ending?

For reporters and counselors

Is My Plan Ending? is a free, independent website. It shows whether a Medicare Advantage or Part D plan from 2026 is offered in the same county in 2027, and which plans are offered there instead. All numbers come from public CMS files. We don't sell insurance, and no plan, agent or insurer pays us.

Everything on this page, the fact sheets and the data files is free to use with credit. You don't need to ask first.

National numbers for 2027

Listings notoffered in 2027
28,173
MedicareAdvantage plans
Probably beingreplaced
3,527
same name,new number
People in plansending here
~1.5 million
no plan left underthe same contract
People who maybe moved
~3 million
same contract hasother plans here

Please don't describe these numbers as people losing coverage. Everyone in these plans keeps Medicare. Some will be moved automatically into another plan from the same company. The rest can choose a new plan, or they will have Original Medicare. Until CMS posts its plan crosswalk (expected in October), the "may be moved" number is uncertain.

  • 28,173 Medicare Advantage plan listings from 2026 are not in CMS's 2027 plan list. A listing is one plan in one county.
  • In September 2026, about 1.5 million people were in those plans with no plan left under the same contract in their county. They need to pick a new plan, or they will have Original Medicare.
  • Another about 3 million people were in plans where the same contract still has other plans in their county. Companies often move these members automatically; CMS's plan crosswalk will say which.
  • Another 3,527 listings are probably being replaced by a plan from the same company with the same name and a new plan number. We count these separately and do not add them to the numbers above.
  • 122 stand-alone drug plan (Part D) listings are not offered in 2027. Drug plans are offered statewide, so here a listing is one plan in one state. In September 2026, about 2.5 million people were in those plans.

People counts are rounded. They come from one month of CMS enrollment data, and CMS hides counts of 10 or fewer, so the true totals are a little higher. Exact figures are in the data files.

State fact sheets

Short fact sheets (two printed pages) for the 10 states with the most people in Medicare Advantage plans not offered in 2027. Each has the state's numbers, the counties and companies with the most people affected, key dates, and where members can get free help.

What the numbers mean

  • Not offered means the plan is in CMS's 2026 plan list for that county and not in the 2027 list. Some of these plans are ending everywhere; some are only leaving some counties.
  • Ending here means no plan is left under the same CMS contract in the county. May be moved means the same contract still has other plans in the county, so the company may move members into one of them. Even in the first group, a company sometimes moves members to a plan under a different contract; the crosswalk will show this.
  • Probably being replaced is our own match: the same company offers a plan with the same name in the same county under a new plan number. CMS posts its own list of which plans move members into which (the "plan crosswalk") later in the fall. Until it does, treat these as likely, not certain.
  • When a company still offers other plans in the county, it may move members of an ending plan into one of those plans. The member's letter from the plan will say. These are counted as not offered until CMS's crosswalk says otherwise.
  • Members should confirm with their plan's Annual Notice of Change, or the letter saying their plan is ending.
