Our commitment
We want everyone to be able to use this site. That includes people who use a screen reader, screen magnifier, voice control or only a keyboard.
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, Level AA. WCAG is a widely used set of rules for making websites easier to use for people with disabilities.
What we have done
- Large text by default, and pages built to keep working when you zoom in.
- High contrast between text and background.
- A font made for low vision. We use Atkinson Hyperlegible Next, designed by the Braille Institute to make letters and numbers easy to tell apart.
- Keyboard use. We built every button, link and form field to work with the keyboard alone.
- Screen-reader labels on form fields and buttons, and table headers on data tables.
- Works on phones and small screens.
- Plain language, short sentences, and terms explained the first time we use them.
- No time limits, no countdowns, and no controls that need dragging.
Known limitations
We want to be honest about what still needs work:
- We have not yet tested the site with people who use assistive technology, such as screen readers. We plan to.
- We have not yet had an outside accessibility review.
- Lists of plans can be long. On a small screen, they take a lot of scrolling.
- Plan names are shown exactly as CMS lists them. Some use short forms, such as "HMO" or "D-SNP," that a screen reader may read letter by letter.
