Updates and Corrections
Changes to this site and its data, newest first. When we get something wrong, we fix it and say so here. Corrections are labeled, and we never remove an entry.
"Correction" means we showed wrong information and fixed it. "Fixed" means part of the site didn't work as it should, but no information was wrong. On October 19, 2026, we relabeled two earlier entries from Correction to Fixed.
78 updates, including 21 corrections. Found a mistake? Report a problem.

Fixed Search engines are asked to skip plan pages where nothing changes
Details
We now ask search engines not to list plan pages where nothing changes in 2027: plans offered again in the same places under the same name, plans new for 2027 that are offered in only one county, and plan-name pages where no plan ends or is replaced. These pages are still on the site. You can still reach them from county pages, company pages and the plan search. Nothing on any page changed.

Fixed Pages fit better on small phones and with large text
Details
Some parts of the site didn't fit on small phones, with large text or with extra spacing between letters and lines. The 2026 and 2027 costs on an answer now stack on narrow phones, so the 2027 column no longer runs off the screen. Long plan names, statuses, plan IDs, number boxes and the report form's buttons no longer run out of their boxes. Wide tables scroll inside their box. No information on the pages changed.
New A page that explains Medicare plan types
Details
The new page Medicare Plan Types Explained says what HMO, HMO-POS, PPO, Regional PPO, Private Fee-for-Service, Medicare Cost and Medical Savings Account plans mean. A table compares 4 types: network doctors, referrals, care outside the network and drug coverage. It also explains that if you join an HMO or PPO without drug coverage, you can't add a stand-alone drug plan (Part D). A chart shows how many listings of each type are not offered in 2027. Plan types on plan pages and in the lookup's plan list now link to the page.
Improved HMO and PPO plans without drug coverage say you can't add a stand-alone drug plan (Part D)
Details
If you join a Medicare Advantage HMO or PPO plan that doesn't cover drugs, you can't join a stand-alone Medicare drug plan (Part D). Medicare & You 2027 says so on page 68. The site now says "You can't add a stand-alone drug plan (Part D) to this plan" for these plans: in the lookup's list of plans (when you open a plan), on plan pages, and on county pages. On county pages these plans have a * in the Drug Deductible column, with one line above the list that explains it. In 2027, 352 HMO and PPO plans have no drug coverage, in 17,147 listings (one plan in one county). PFFS plans without drug coverage, MSA plans and Cost plans don't get the line, because their members can join a stand-alone drug plan.
Data CMS updated its 2027 plan list
Details
CMS updated its 2027 plan list, with data as of October 18, 2026. It added 2027 star ratings. They match the ratings we already showed from CMS's Star Ratings data of October 8, 2026. The list of plans offered and not offered didn't change. The counts didn't change either: 21,868 Medicare Advantage listings are not offered in their county in 2027, and 9,477 are being replaced. CMS now gives the brand name "HealthSpring" for 40 drug plans (Part D) under contract S5715. It used to say "Blue Cross and Blue Shield of IL, NM, OK, TX." Our pages use the new name. The site now says "data as of October 18, 2026."
Improved New plans marked on county pages, and company pages named by brand
Details
Each county page's list of Medicare Advantage plans offered in 2027 now marks plans that are new for 2027 and says how many there are. A plan is new when it wasn't offered in that county in 2026 and CMS's plan crosswalk (its list of which plans move members where) doesn't move any 2026 plan's members into it. A plan that takes in members of a 2026 plan says which plan instead. The lookup's plan list, state drug plan tables and plan pages use the same rule. Some company pages now lead with the name used on nearly all of the company's plans, such as "Wellcare (Centene Corporation)."
Improved County printouts list plans that ended during 2026
Details
The printed county summary now lists the plans that ended during 2026 (from Clear Spring Health and iCircle) under their own heading, "Plans That Ended During 2026," with each plan ID. Before, the county page listed them, but the printout left them out. Every county printout still fits on as many pages as before.

Correction Plans that ended during 2026 no longer show as ending on December 31
Details
Answers for the Clear Spring Health plans (in Colorado, Georgia and Illinois) and the iCircle plan (in New York) said the plan ends on December 31, 2026. They also gave the extra time to pick a new plan until February 28, 2027. And they gave the right to buy a Medigap policy that comes with a plan ending then. That was wrong for these plans. CMS's monthly counts of members in each plan show none in the Clear Spring Health plans after May 2026, and none in the iCircle plan after February 2026. These answers now say the plan ended during 2026. They say to call 1-800-MEDICARE or your State Health Insurance Assistance Program (SHIP) if you're not sure what coverage you have now. Their 355 listings are no longer counted as not offered in 2027. Medicare Advantage listings not offered went from 22,223 to 21,868. In Colorado they went from 515 to 467, and in Georgia from 1,244 to 989. In Illinois they went from 835 to 797, and in New York from 756 to 742. People counts don't change, because these plans had no members in CMS's October 2026 file. The pages for Group 1001 and CDS Monarch, the companies behind these plans, now say their plans ended during 2026.
Improved Fines and sanctions explained, and a date on the sanction line
Details
When CMS's plan file marks a plan as under sanction, the answer now says which file that is and its date. It also says what a sanction may mean, that CMS may have lifted it since, and links to CMS's list of enforcement actions. Before, it said only "CMS lists this plan as under sanction." Our methods page has a new section, Fines and Sanctions. It compares a sanction and a fine, shows how long after the problem CMS posted its 2026 fines, and explains why we don't show fines on plan pages. The common questions page has a new question about where to find fines and sanctions.
Improved Company pages say how plans are grouped
Details
Each company page now says that we group plans by the parent company CMS lists for each contract. When one company buys another, CMS's files can take a few months to show the new owner. We checked our grouping against CMS's Medicare Advantage Plan Directory for October 2026, and it matches for every contract in both. The methods page explains this in a new section. The Allina Health and Aetna page now says it is a joint venture. The numbers on the pages don't change.
Improved Medigap and retiree plans are easier to find
Details
When a Medicare Advantage or Cost plan is ending, the answer now says near the top that you may have a right to buy a Medigap policy (Medicare Supplement Insurance) for a limited time. A link goes to the details. Before, they were only in a box further down the page. The home page and the plan list now also say that this site can't check plans from a former employer or union, like a retiree plan. Before, this was only in a question near the bottom and in "My plan isn't on this list".
Changed Privacy page: two small updates
Details
We changed two lines on our privacy page. Reports sent with our form are usually emailed to our inbox. On a very busy day, we read them in our Cloudflare account instead. Emails left on our page for agents and brokers are now deleted automatically by March 1, 2027, if we haven't deleted them before then.

Improved The plan search finds more plans
Details
The plan search in the lookup now understands more ways of typing a plan's name or ID. Words like "Medicare", "Advantage" and "plan" no longer keep a plan from showing up. Typing "drug plan" or "Part D" shows the stand-alone drug plans. Typing "D-SNP" or "dual" shows the plans for people with both Medicare and Medicaid. You can also search by the parent company, like CVS Health for Aetna plans. You can search by a plan's 2027 name too. A plan ID can be typed without the leading zeros (H5273-1 for H5273-001) or with dots or other dashes. Accents and apostrophes don't matter. Fewer plans from other companies show up: words of 3 letters or fewer match only the start of a word, and "Medica" no longer finds every plan with "Medicare" in its name. What you type stays in your browser.
Improved County pages now offer the state's full spreadsheet
Details
The download button on a county page now gives the spreadsheet file (CSV) for the whole state. It has a county column, so you can find your county in it. Before, each county page had its own file with only that county. Old links to a county file now open the state file. On a company's page for one state, the button now gives the company's file for every state, with a state column. In a web browser, old links to a company's file for one state open the company's file. The numbers in the files don't change.
Correction Shorter titles in search results, and no "Plans Ending" on county and company pages where no plans end
Details
Some county and company pages were headed "Plans Ending" even though no plan offered there in 2026 ends in 2027. For example, the San Juan, Puerto Rico page was headed "Plans Ending in San Juan, PR in 2027", and its title in search results said the same. That page is now headed "Plans in San Juan, PR for 2027". The same fix applies to 201 county pages, 10 company pages and 48 pages for a company in one state. County and company page titles in search results are also shorter and now show the counts, like "Orange County, CA 2027 Medicare Advantage: 19 Ending, 111 Offered". Company titles count plan listings, like "7 Plan Listings Ending". A listing is one plan in one county (for drug plans, one state). County pages in states where a stand-alone drug plan (Part D) ends now say how many, with a link to the state page. Each page's description in search results now starts with what the page covers. The line saying this is an independent site, not affiliated with Medicare or any insurer, now comes at the end. State page titles and the numbers on the pages don't change.
Correction State pages where no plans end no longer say "Plans Ending"
Details
The pages for the Virgin Islands, Guam, the Northern Mariana Islands, American Samoa, Alaska and Puerto Rico were headed "Plans Ending in [place] in 2027". No plan offered in these places in 2026 ends in 2027. They are now headed "Plans in [place] for 2027" ("Drug Plans" where CMS lists no Medicare Advantage plans) and say that no plans end. Every state page now also lists the stand-alone drug plans (Part D) offered in 2027. It shows each plan's monthly premium and drug deductible, whether it is offered again or new, and how many people were in it in October 2026. A plan that takes in the members of a plan being replaced says so. Before, a state page listed only the drug plans not offered or being replaced, so the Virgin Islands page named no plan. The numbers on other pages don't change.
New Pages for drug plans and Special Needs Plans
Details
Two new pages. "Drug Plans (Part D) Ending in 2027" (/2027/drug-plans/) lists every stand-alone drug plan not offered or being replaced in 2027, by state. It shows the number of people in each plan and says what happens if you do nothing. "Special Needs Plans in 2027" (/special-needs-plans/) explains the 3 kinds of Special Needs Plans and how many are not offered or being replaced. It also says what's different when one ends, and lists the Special Enrollment Periods for people in them. Both pages are linked from the Common Questions page and the state and company list. Each state page's drug plan section links to the national list. Plan pages link the plan's Special Needs Plan label to the new page. The numbers on other pages don't change. Each part of these pages ends with its sources and the month they were last checked.
Fixed Pages no longer jump while they load on a computer
Details
On computers and other wide screens, the plan lookup pushed the bottom of the page down as it appeared, so the page jumped. The page now keeps space for the lookup from the start. Headings and text also keep nearly the same line breaks while our fonts load.
Improved Shortened addresses now open the right page
Details
In most cases, a county address without its last word, like "county" or "parish", now opens that place's page. For example, /2027/utah/salt-lake/ opens the Salt Lake County page. Some short addresses fit two places, like Fairfax County and the city of Fairfax in Virginia. Those still show our "We Can't Find That Page" page, with links to look up a plan. Addresses with a 2-letter state code, like /2027/ca/, now open that state's page. Press addresses for a state without a fact sheet, like /press/utah/, open that state's page too. Some addresses with a brand name, like /2027/aetna/, open the page for the company whose plans use that name.

Improved How we handle ideas, now on the Report a Problem or Share an Idea page
Details
The Report a Problem or Share an Idea page has a new part called "Have an Idea?" It asks what would make this site easier to use, or what's missing, and says we read every idea. On the About page, the part on how we check the site now ends with a link for sharing an idea.
New Share an idea with the report form
Details
The Report a Problem page is now called Report a Problem or Share an Idea. Its address is the same (/corrections/). The form has a new topic, "An idea or something missing", for telling us about something you'd like to see or couldn't find. Every answer now has a "Something missing? Tell us." link, which opens the form with that topic already chosen. The link's web address holds only the topic, never your plan. An idea is handled like any other report. It has the same 1,000-character limit and the same check for Medicare and Social Security numbers. Saved reports are still deleted after 6 months.
New Sources for every common question, and a Sources page
Details
Each answer on the Common Questions page now ends with a list of its sources. It links to the federal laws and rules, Medicare.gov pages, CMS documents and CMS data files the answer is based on. It also says the month the answer's facts were last checked. The 5 questions on the home page have the same list. A new Sources page shows how a fact gets on this site and the latest results of our checks. It follows one fact from its source to the page, and explains how we wrote the common questions. It also lists every source we use, with the pages that use it and when it was last checked. It is linked at the bottom of every page.

Improved Guide for checking a plan for a parent is linked from every page
Details
The guide for checking a plan for a parent or relative is now linked at the bottom of every page, next to About.
New A form to report a problem
Details
The Report a Problem page (/corrections/) now has a form. Choose what the problem is about, say what you saw, and leave an email only if you want a reply. Every answer links to it with "Report a problem with this answer". You can add the plan you looked up by ticking a box that shows the plan details it adds. The form also shows the page you came from, which is sent with your report. It checks for a Medicare number or Social Security number and won't send a message that looks like it has one. Email still works too. The privacy page now says what a report saves, that saved reports are deleted after 6 months, and that a copy is emailed to our inbox.
Correction Press page described the national data file wrongly
Details
The press page said the national CSV lists every plan listing in the country with its 2027 status. It lists only the 2026 plan listings that change in 2027: plans not offered and plans being replaced. State and county files list every 2026 plan with its 2027 status. We fixed the description.
Improved Methods, Press and Report a Problem pages reorganized
Details
The methods page now starts with a list of its 8 sections. It has a new section on what this data can't tell you, and a longer section on how we check our work. The press page puts contact details and how to cite near the top, and lists its data files in one place. Report a Problem now says what counts as a mistake and how we show a fix. The Updates and Corrections page now labels site problems that didn't change any information "Fixed", and keeps "Correction" for wrong information we showed. Two earlier entries were relabeled from Correction to Fixed.
Improved Privacy, Terms and Accessibility pages updated
Details
The privacy page now names Cloudflare as our host. It says Cloudflare's dashboard shows us totals and a sample of individual requests, which can include IP addresses, so we no longer say we can't see any one person's visit. It also says we share information only if the law requires it, and names our email provider among the companies involved. The accessibility page now says how we test and that we haven't had an outside audit. The terms page groups its limits in one section, with no change to what it says.
Improved About page explains why the site exists and how AI was used to build it
Details
The About page now says why this site exists, who it's for, what it can't tell you (such as doctors in a plan's network or drug coverage), what to do if your plan is ending, how we check our work, and how the site was built with help from an AI coding assistant. No AI answers your question. The funding line at the bottom of every page now reads "No ads, no insurer money and no referral fees."
Fixed Our email address shows on every page again
Details
Our hosting provider's email protection replaced our email address with "[email protected]" for anyone whose browser doesn't run scripts, and in some reading apps. The address, [email protected], now shows as plain text everywhere it appears.
New Updates and Corrections page
Details
The list of updates and corrections now has its own page, Updates and Corrections (/updates/), linked from the bottom of every page. Each entry is one short line with a label (Correction, New, Improved or Data), and the full explanation is under "Details". Corrections are labeled, and no entry is ever removed. The What's Changing for 2027 page shows the latest 3.
Data New CMS enrollment numbers for October 2026
Details
New CMS enrollment numbers (October 2026). People counts on every page now use them; which plans are offered doesn't change. 22,223 Medicare Advantage listings are not offered in their county in 2027, and 9,477 are being replaced. In the CSV downloads, the people column is now called "enrollment" (it was "enrollment_sept_2026"), with the month in a new "enrollment_month" column.
Improved Link to the page for agents and brokers removed
Details
We removed the link to our page for insurance agents and brokers from the bottom of every page, and took that page out of search engines, so the site is only for people with Medicare and their families. The lookup and answers don't change.
Improved Our 2027 plan lists match Medicare Plan Finder in 8 ZIP codes
Details
Methods: we compared our 2027 plan lists with Medicare Plan Finder in 8 ZIP codes in 7 states, including Special Needs Plans. All 472 Medicare Advantage plans matched, with the same plan IDs, and so did the stand-alone drug plans for Minnesota and Florida (20 plans). The "How We Checked Our Work" section on the methods page lists the ZIP codes. No answers change.
October 18, 2026
Fixed Links that jump down an answer no longer restart the lookup
Details
Fixed: on an answer, "Jump to plans offered in …" and "Skip to main content" sent people back to the ZIP code screen. They now move down the page and keep the answer.
New Pages for the 2027 dates and for family members and helpers
Details
Two new pages. "What Happens Next" (/what-happens-next/) lists the 2027 plan dates in order, from the letters that plans send in the fall to March 31, and says what happens if you do nothing. "Checking a Plan for a Parent or Relative" (/checking-for-someone/) is for family members and helpers: what to ask for, how to read the answer together, Extra Help, free help and scam calls. Both are linked from the home page and the Common Questions page. Answers for plans that are ending link to the dates page, and every answer links to the guide for family members and helpers. The wording of the answers doesn't change.
Correction People counts in table rows say "at least" when hidden counts could matter
Details
People counts in single table rows now follow the same rule as totals. A few counties are made of more than one CMS county code (for example Los Angeles), and drug plans are counted across a whole state. When CMS hides some of those counts (10 or fewer people each) and the hidden part could matter, a row now says "at least" instead of "~", the same as the plan's own total. Rows where CMS hides every count now say "10 or fewer" for each hidden count, for example "20 or fewer", instead of "10 or fewer" (which could be too low) or "Not listed". The spreadsheet downloads match.
Correction About page now says we don't refer anyone to agents or brokers
Details
The About page now says we don't refer anyone to insurance agents or brokers, instead of saying we don't work with them. The site still sends no one to agents. The new page for agents and brokers only asks whether they'd want a separate tool.
Correction State fact sheets now say people who do nothing can lose drug coverage
Details
Correction: the state fact sheets for reporters and counselors said that people in ending plans who do nothing "will have Original Medicare" without saying, in that sentence, that they can lose drug coverage. That sentence now adds the drug coverage part, with the Extra Help exception, the same as the other pages fixed earlier today.
New Page for insurance agents and brokers
Details
New page for insurance agents and brokers (/for-agents/), linked from the bottom of every page. Agents who would use a tool to check their clients' 2027 plans can leave an email. Nothing is for sale. Apart from the new link at the bottom of each page, nothing changes in the lookup or the plan pages. The privacy page now says how we keep an email left there. The About page now says we're asking agents and brokers about a separate tool, and that this site stays free.
New County pages print a short county summary
Details
Printing a county page now prints a county summary on one sheet of paper, front and back, instead of the whole page. It lists the county's Medicare Advantage plans not offered in 2027, grouped by company with plan IDs, and the plans being replaced, with the plans members move to. The back says what people in those plans can do, the key dates, and where to get free help. It also shows the date it was printed. Each county page has a "Print a County Summary" button. Counties with the most changes, about 1 in 15, need a second sheet. The page for reporters and counselors has a new section for finding a county to print.
Improved Headings and buttons capitalize each main word
Details
Headings, menu items, buttons and table column headings now capitalize each main word, such as "Check My Plan" and "What Happens Next". The wording and the numbers don't change.
Improved Link previews in messaging and social apps
Details
Links to this site can now show a preview in most messaging and social apps, such as Messages on iPhone, WhatsApp and Facebook. The preview has a title, a short line about the page and a picture with the site name. Each picture says "Independent site. Not affiliated with Medicare, CMS or any insurer." The previews have no counts, so a preview an app saved earlier can't show an old number. A lookup answer you share shows the home page's preview, because apps don't receive the part of the link that names the plan and county. iPhones now show an icon for this site when you add it to the home screen.
New Answers to 8 more common questions
Details
The common questions page has 8 new answers about questions people search for. They cover a company dropping plans, a new plan name, a plan offered in the next county, a doctor or hospital leaving a plan, where to find your plan ID, the December 7 and February 28 deadlines, whether dates differ by company, and a hospital stay or surgery around January 1. The company list on the browse page can now also be searched by the brand name on a member card, such as Wellcare or UnitedHealthcare.
Correction Puerto Rico pages no longer mention Extra Help, and brand names on company pages
Details
Company pages for one state now name the brand people know when all of the company's listed plans there use it, such as "MMM (Elevance Health)" in Puerto Rico or "Wellcare (Centene Corporation)". Pages where no plans end and every replaced plan moves all its members, like Puerto Rico, now say in their search summary that none end and how many are being replaced. Puerto Rico county pages no longer say premiums are "without Extra Help", because Extra Help isn't available there.
Correction "Not offered" note now says people who do nothing can lose drug coverage
Details
Correction: the note that explains "Not offered" on county, state, company and plan pages said members who do nothing "will have Original Medicare." That left out drug coverage. It now says that Medicare Advantage and Cost plan members will have Original Medicare, and that members of any plan that covered drugs, including stand-alone drug plans, will have no Medicare drug coverage unless they get Extra Help. Outside U.S. territories, Medicare then puts people with Extra Help in a drug plan.
Correction "Not listed" and "at least" for people counts CMS hides
Details
County and company pages now say "Not listed" when CMS gives no member count for a plan, instead of a dash. On phones this showed as "— people"; it now reads "People: Not listed". People totals that leave out counts CMS hides (10 or fewer people each) now say "at least" when those hidden counts could add more than a tenth to the total. For example, a plan with 14 people shown and 112 hidden counts said "~10" and now says "at least 14". Larger totals, where hidden counts make little difference, still say "about".
Correction Pages for shared plan names, and the update log in date order
Details
We found 575 plan names in CMS's files that are used by more than one plan. For example, 34 plans are called Humana Value Choice (PPO) in 2027. Each of these names now has its own page, for example the page for Humana Value Choice (PPO). It lists every plan with that name, by state. For each plan it shows the plan ID, company and plan type. It also shows what happens to the plan in that state and how many people are in it. Find the plan ID on your member card to tell which one is yours. Names that include a plan ID, like Humana Value Choice H5216-070 (PPO), are on the same page as the name without the ID. Plan pages link to these pages. On phones, plan tables now say "People: Not listed" instead of "Not listed people". The changes page now lists the newest updates first; it had been showing the oldest first.
October 17, 2026
Improved Cloud County, Kansas, answers name a plan missing from CMS's 2027 list
Details
In Cloud County, Kansas, answers for two UnitedHealthcare Dual Complete plans now say that CMS's plan crosswalk also names a plan (H0169-012) that isn't in CMS's 2027 plan list or on Medicare Plan Finder, so we can't tell whether it is offered there. The letter from the plan will say whether members are moved. The changes page now shows the 8 most recent updates, with older ones under "Earlier updates".
Correction About 3,200 listings now say "plan ending" instead of "left this county"
Details
About 3,200 plan listings said "left this county" (or "left this state", for drug plans) even though the plan isn't offered anywhere in 2027. CMS's plan crosswalk lists these plans as ending. They now say "plan ending", and their answers say the company is ending the plan and it isn't offered in any county in 2027. The totals on the site don't change.
Improved Answers for 5 counties with no Medicare Advantage plans in 2027
Details
Five counties have no Medicare Advantage plans in CMS's 2027 plan list. They are Lake County in California, Custer, Hill and McCone counties in Montana, and Coos County in New Hampshire. Their county pages and lookup answers now say what happens. People in those plans will have Original Medicare on January 1, 2027, unless a company leaving only that county lets them stay. They can join a stand-alone drug plan (Part D) to keep drug coverage. The answer now opens on the list of the state's drug plans. It also lists the deadlines and Medigap rights.
Correction Fixed wording, empty tables and broken links on a few pages
Details
Fixed wording and empty tables on a few pages. Pages with one plan now say "1 plan", not "1 plans". Five counties with no 2027 Medicare Advantage plans (Lake, California; Custer, Hill and McCone, Montana; Coos, New Hampshire) now say so instead of showing an empty table. Alaska, American Samoa, Guam, the Northern Mariana Islands and the U.S. Virgin Islands now say CMS lists no Medicare Advantage plans there, instead of showing zeros. Plan pages no longer link to county pages that don't exist. A few pages no longer repeat the same sentence twice, and plan pages with two Medicare Plan Finder links for the same state now add the plan ID so the links can be told apart.
Improved Tables fit on tablets
Details
On tablets, the state, company and national changes pages no longer scroll sideways. Long column headings now wrap onto two lines so the tables fit the screen.
New A page for every plan
Details
Every plan now has its own page, such as /2027/plan/h5216-256/. It shows what happens to the plan in each county where it was offered in 2026 (for drug plans, each state), its costs and star rating in 2026 and 2027, and the company's legal name as CMS lists it. A plan can be offered again in some counties and not in others, so the page counts the counties and links each one to your answer. Plan IDs on county and company pages now link to these pages.
Improved Methods page explains why other published numbers differ
Details
The methods page now explains why other published numbers differ from ours. It uses KFF's analysis from October 9, 2026, as an example. The common questions page has a new answer about whether Medicare publishes a list of ending plans. Some answers now link to Medicare.gov's page on special enrollment periods and to the Medicare Rights Center's page for people whose plan is ending.
Improved Plan search finds IDs typed with or without dashes or spaces
Details
Finding your plan in the list is easier. The search now finds a plan ID typed with or without dashes or spaces, such as H5216-256, H5216256 or H5216-256-000. It also allows one wrong, missing or extra letter in words of 5 or more letters. It also finds some short company names, such as UHC for UnitedHealthcare and BCBS for Blue Cross and Blue Shield plans. When 2 or more plans in the list have the same name, the list says so and shows their plan IDs in bold. Check the plan ID on your member card. The list now has a heading for each company, so screen reader users can move from one company to the next. The privacy page lists 2 new lookup counts: searching the list of plans, and a search that found no plans. What you type in the search box is never sent anywhere.
Improved Lookup works better with screen readers, keyboards and zoom
Details
The lookup works better with screen readers, keyboards and zoom. Screen readers no longer read the whole page after each step. Focus stays where you were after filtering, sorting, turning on Extra Help or answering the quick question. Plan costs no longer get cut off on narrow screens or at high zoom. Each step has its own page title, focus outlines and text boxes are easier to see, and there is a "Skip to main content" link.
New You can turn off lookup counts on your device
Details
You can now turn off our lookup counts on your own device. Open the home page with ?count=off at the end of the web address. The setting stays on that device. To turn the counts back on, use ?count=on. Cloudflare's page visit counts are not affected. The privacy page explains this.
Improved CMS data date near the top of data pages
Details
State, county, company and summary pages now show the date of the CMS plan data near the top. The date links to the list of sources and dates at the bottom of the page.
Improved Answers for ending and replaced plans list what to have ready
Details
Answers for plans that are ending or being replaced now list what to have ready before you call or compare plans. The list includes your Medicare card and plan card, the letter from your plan or your Annual Notice of Change, every prescription drug you take, and the pharmacies you use. Answers for health plans also list your doctors and hospitals. Each list says who to give your Medicare Number to, and it prints with the answer.

Improved Help when your plan isn't on the list
Details
The plan list now has a "My plan isn't on this list" section. It explains how to search another way and where to get free help finding your plan. It also lists plans that aren't in Medicare's plan files, like retiree plans from an employer or union, PACE (Programs of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly) and Medigap (Medicare Supplement Insurance).
New An optional question under some answers
Details
Under an answer, we sometimes ask one optional question. It asks how you found the site, who you're checking for, or whether the answer helped. It's one tap, and "No thanks" hides it. We count only the totals. Your choice isn't linked to your plan or ZIP code. The privacy page explains it.
New Lookup counts now include problems, by kind only
Details
Privacy page updated: our step counter now also counts when the lookup runs into a problem, by kind only (an error on our page, or a data file that didn't load or couldn't be read), so we can find and fix problems quickly. It is never sent your ZIP code, county, plan, Extra Help choice, or any details of the error.
Improved "Find" boxes on long lists
Details
Long lists now have a "Find" box: type to find your county or a company on a state page, or a state or company on the browse page. On state pages, the county list now comes before the company list.
Improved Easier to read on phones
Details
Pages are easier to read on phones. Plans not offered or being replaced are shown as short cards, the list of plans offered in a county starts folded behind a button, and the state and company tables keep every column on one line, with the name fixed on the left and the rest scrolling sideways. Nothing was removed; printing still shows everything.
New Lookup counts now include which kind of help people use
Details
Privacy page updated: our step counter now also counts which kind of help people use from the lookup (opening Medicare Plan Finder, tapping the 1-800-MEDICARE number, opening the link to their SHIP, or using our Print or 'Send this to family' button). It still gets only the name of the action, never your ZIP code, county, plan, or Extra Help choice.
Improved Plan names in tables link to their answer
Details
Plan names in the tables on county, state and company pages now link straight to that plan's answer, so you can see what happens to your plan and which plans are offered without starting the lookup over.
Data 2027 star ratings now shown, from CMS
Details
2027 star ratings are now shown, from CMS's 2027 Star Ratings data released October 8, 2026, as stars with the rating written beside them. CMS hasn't added them to its plan file yet. Plans with a 5-star rating have one extra line about Medicare's 5-star enrollment window (December 8, 2026 to November 30, 2027).
Correction We said "not yet rated" after CMS posted 2027 star ratings
Details
CMS posted 2027 star ratings on Medicare Plan Finder on October 8. They aren't in CMS's plan file yet, which this site uses, so 2027 plans now say "Not in CMS's plan file yet. Check Medicare Plan Finder." instead of "Not yet rated by CMS." The key dates list now shows the date they were posted.

Correction Drug-only plans now show their 2026 star rating
Details
Drug-only plans, and a few plans without drug coverage, now show their 2026 star rating from CMS instead of "Not Applicable." CMS doesn't give these plans an overall rating, so we show the summary rating CMS uses for them, labeled as a drug plan or health plan star rating. When CMS adds 2027 ratings to its plan data file, a plan with a 5-star rating will have one extra line on its row about Medicare's 5-star enrollment window.
Correction Reply-time promise removed, Medigap note for 3 states, and people shares
Details
People counts now come with their share: about 1 in 10 people in Medicare Advantage plans (not counting employer plans) were in a plan that is ending, and about 1 in 14 in a plan being replaced (September 2026). State pages and fact sheets give the share for each state. Answers for ending plans in Massachusetts, Minnesota and Wisconsin now say Medigap policies are set up differently there. The report-a-problem and accessibility pages no longer promise a reply time.
Correction Extra Help removed from territory county pages, and other fixes
Details
Corrections from a check of our accuracy-audit process. County pages in Puerto Rico and other U.S. territories no longer point to costs with Extra Help, which isn't available there. Answers for ending plans now also say that Medicare.gov lists Medigap Plans K and L for this situation. The common questions page says most Medigap policies, not all, don't cancel automatically. The changes page now gives the number of plan listings not offered and being replaced.
Correction Medigap rights for ending plans, and other fixes
Details
Smaller corrections from the same accuracy review. The out-of-pocket limit is now labeled as the most you pay for covered medical care, and the note for PPO plans describes their combined limit. "Still offered in other counties" now says the plan may have a different name there. Company pages say their state count includes states where only drug plans change. The methods page says CMS's plan list leaves out employer-only plans and includes 42 Cost plans in its Medicare Advantage counts. The changes page quotes CMS more exactly: about 8 in 10 people in Medicare Advantage plans can stay in their current plan with the same or a lower premium. Facts on the site now carry a recorded source. The privacy page no longer promises to delete report emails within 12 months, because nothing did that automatically. It now says how those emails reach us. Answers for ending plans now say the Medigap right starts when you get the letter saying your plan is ending, not 60 days before coverage ends. It also lists the Medigap plans more exactly: Plans A, B, C and F for people new to Medicare before 2020, or A, B, D and G for people new on or after January 1, 2020. Before, it also listed Plans K and L, which federal law doesn't include.
Correction County and company pages now list plans being replaced, and other fixes
Details
Corrections from our second accuracy review. County and company pages still said some plans were "probably being replaced" and did not list them. They now list plans being replaced, from CMS's plan crosswalk. We said members of plans being replaced are moved automatically, except some in plans for people with Medicare and Medicaid. CMS's file shows some other plans where not every member is moved, so we now say that for some plans some members may not be moved. The "I get Extra Help" switch showed in U.S. territories, where Extra Help isn't available. It is now hidden there. Ending Cost plans no longer say Medicare will put people with Extra Help in a drug plan, because we found no source for that. Every page now lists CMS's 2027 Plan Crosswalk as a source.
Correction Fact sheets show drug plans being replaced separately, and other fixes
Details
Corrections after the crosswalk update. State fact sheets listed drug plans that are being replaced among drug plans "not offered". They are now shown separately. Drug plans that are leaving a state now say "left this state", not "left this county". Several pages still described "being replaced" as our own match. They now say it comes from CMS's 2027 plan list and plan crosswalk.
Data Answers now use CMS's 2027 plan crosswalk
Details
CMS posted its 2027 plan crosswalk, its list of which 2026 plans move members into which 2027 plans. Answers now use it: "probably being replaced" is replaced by CMS's confirmed outcome for every plan. Medicare Advantage: 22,223 plan listings are not offered in 2027 (about 3.2 million people in September 2026), and 9,477 are being replaced (about 2.1 million people). Where CMS lists more than one plan taking a plan's members in the same county, the answer lists them all. Some plans we had marked "probably being replaced" are ending, and some we had marked ending are being replaced.

Correction Plans leaving only a county now count as "ending here", and other fixes
Details
Corrections from our accuracy review. People in plans not offered: plans that are only leaving a county now count as "ending here", because federal rules don't allow moving members out of a county a plan is leaving; "may be moved" now covers only plans that ended everywhere. Removed the claim that companies "often" move members. Privacy page: says exactly which data files our host can see, names both visit counters as outside resources, and lists every lookup step we count. Extra Help: noted that Medicare doesn't automatically assign drug plans in U.S. territories. Ending Medicare Cost plans now show the Medigap right.
New We started counting visits, without cookies
Details
Privacy page updated: we now count visits with Cloudflare Web Analytics and count how many visits reach each step of the lookup with GoatCounter. Neither uses cookies or records the ZIP code, county or plan you look up.
New First version of the site
Details
First version. CMS 2027 plan file release 202609.1 (data as of September 22, 2026), compared with the 2026 file. No corrections yet.
