Washington: Medicare Advantage and Part D plans not offered in 2027

In Washington, 635 Medicare Advantage plan listings from 2026 are not in CMS's 2027 plan list. A listing is one plan in one county. In September 2026, the people in those plans were in two very different situations:

Another 1 listing is probably being replaced by a plan with the same name and a new number; we count it separately.

Of all states, Washington has the ninth-most people in Medicare Advantage plans not offered in 2027.

Please don't describe these numbers as people losing coverage. Everyone in these plans keeps Medicare. Until CMS posts its plan crosswalk, the "may be moved" number is uncertain.

Why plans are not offered

  • 202 listings: the company is ending a whole group of plans (a contract) everywhere.
  • 107 listings: the plan is leaving the county.
  • 326 listings: the company still offers other plans in the county, but not this one. The company may move these members into another of its plans; the member's letter will say.

Drug plans (Part D)

3 of 10 stand-alone drug plans offered in Washington in 2026 are not offered in 2027. In September 2026, about 91,000 people were in them. Drug plans are offered statewide.

  • SilverScript Choice (PDP) (Aetna Medicare): ~27,000 people
  • HealthSpring Assurance Rx (PDP) (HealthSpring): ~52,000 people
  • HealthSpring Extra Rx (PDP) (HealthSpring): ~11,000 people

What members can do

  • Read the Annual Notice of Change from their plan (it must arrive by September 30), or the letter saying their plan is ending (plans must send it by October 2, 2026). No letter? Contact the plan.
  • People can change plans during Open Enrollment, October 15 to December 7, 2026. New coverage starts January 1, 2027.
  • If their plan is ending, they also have a special window from December 8, 2026 to February 28, 2027.
  • If a Medicare Advantage plan ends and the member picks nothing, they will have Original Medicare on January 1, 2027. Without Extra Help, they will not have Medicare drug coverage. With Extra Help, Medicare puts them in a drug plan.
  • If the company still offers other plans in the county, it may move members into one of them. The letter from the plan will say.
  • Check one plan by ZIP code at ismyplanending.com.

About these numbers

  • We compare CMS's 2026 and 2027 plan lists (CMS CY2027 Landscape, release 202609.1, data as of September 22, 2026). A plan in the 2026 list for a county that is not in the 2027 list is "not offered".
  • Counts are plan listings: one plan in one county (drug plans: one plan in one state). One plan in 20 counties is 20 listings.
  • "Probably being replaced" is our own match (same company, same plan name, new plan number) until CMS posts its plan crosswalk. It is not added to the "not offered" number.
  • "Ending here" can still include some members a company moves to a plan under a different contract; CMS's plan crosswalk will show this.
  • People counts are rounded, from CMS enrollment for September 2026. CMS hides counts of 10 or fewer, so true totals are a little higher. Exact figures are in the CSV.

If you're in one of these plans, confirm with your Annual Notice of Change or the letter from your plan saying it is ending.
